I have settled my family and that makes me happy. I have bought a few properties in Sri Lanka and I've even started a business there. I have pretty much achieved what I wanted. How much of that financial security have you achieved? You've said that you want to settle your parents and yourself financially and then you will think about a personal life. That is forever the dilemma of our lives! Which movie can I sign?!ģ. If one is off, then you have to reconsider a lot of things. The producer, the script and the character, in that order. It is important to choose your director and co-stars well. The reason I prefer working with established actors and stars is because they are more popular and the film reaches out to more people and do well in terms of numbers, too. What are the factors you consider before signing a movie? It's empowering to be a part of such movies.
It's different from what I have done and I have never seen myself look like that on screen. I was like 'Wow!' because I finally got an opportunity to do a serious role and decided to take it up. As a mother, she is worried about losing her daughter and then she is also worried about losing her husband because he has gone back to fighting, to pay the hospital bills. The role of a mother of a kid, who is sick, and the family does not have money, was a challenge. I usually play the role of a glamourous girl or a Miss Goody-two-shoes. Then I discussed it with Karan and my team and I decided I shouldn't play safe with my choice of roles. I was like, 'Oh my God! He has actually giving me the role!' Initially, I did not want to do it. When he called me, I thought he wanted me to do an item song in it and then he told me that he wanted me to play Akshay's wife and a mother. I never thought that he would think of casting me. Before I was cast for Brothers, we all knew that Karan Johar was looking for an actress for to play a mother's role.
